Arsenal through yet again, Watt is out on loan and a whole load of gossip.

by on November 24, 2011

Only Real Madrid have appeared in more consecutive Champions League group stages that The Arsenal. 12 years running. More than Barcelona. More than Milan, Inter, Chelsea, Man United, Bayern Munich. It’s easy to take for granted, but we’ve done it again with a 2-1 win over Dortmund. Indeed, our crisis club is the only English side that has qualification [from a hard group] assured. Certainly an interesting match, where we were maybe helped by the injuries to Goetze and Bender. On that note, I think I speak for all the writers here when I say I hope Bender recovers soon.

There’s all kinds of reactions from the match, with interviews from Arteta, Ramsey, Szczesny and Wenger’s presser as well as highlights and more from Arsenalist. As always the match reports from Arsenal Report and GOODPLAYA are defnintely worth a read. You can check out this video by @CWDailyGooner showing Ramsey’s performance against Dortmund.

There were interesting quotes from Mario Goetze after the match. We’ve obviously been linked with the young German more than once, causing Dortmund to warn us off the talented midfielder. I wouldn’t be surprised if Goetze is at Dortmund next season, but his comments after the match about being linked with Arsenal won’t stop specuation. Another big buy we’ve been linked with a lot is Eden Hazard, with recent reports suggesting that we’ll be priced out of the race for the Belgian.

In other news, Arsene Wenger and Robin Van Persie have been once again singing the praises of Theo Walcott, while we’re also rumoured to be looking at a[nother] youngster. Everyone’s favourite Arsenal-related cyclist Bow Wilson has been speaking about Wojciech Szczesny, saying he’s more important for the club’s future than Robin Van Persie. Thoughts on that?

Finally, Sanchez Watt will be playing on loan for Sheffield Wednesday, with what is surely his last chance at the club. It seemed like he was set to leave in the summer, but his sterling form for the Reserves means he’s stayed on. The only question now is whether he can replicate his form on loan. There are reports that Ozyakup could also go out on loan, although we could see more going out on loan in January. That’s about it for today tweeps, as always you can follow me @SavageGooner and “like” the blog on facebook. Until tomorrow!

  1. Bow Wilson may have a point since we have suffered from two great demons since 2005, inconsistent goalkeeping AND perennial lon g-term injuries to key players. Wenger seems to have solved both with Szcesny and loads of depth on our bench (Arshavin, Benayoun, AOC, Frimpong, Gibbs, Park, Miyachi, Chamakh, and Jenkinson) but the player who has made the most difference this season aside from RVP of course is Szcesny.
