Highlights and Match Reaction

Hello everyone and a happy Monday to you all! So we beat Sunderland, that was quite nice. We’ve still got two hard matches coming up, but more on those in a bit. First things first, bit credit to Arsene Wenger for his substitutions, they effectively won us the game!

What a way for Henry to sign off from the Premier League [again!]. Credit has to go to Arshavin for finding the space between the two defenders and The King made it look so simple as he always does. Being the legend he was though, he didn’t want to hog the headlines.

The match at Sunderland wasn’t without disappointment though, as there pitch [which can only be described as mountainous] seemed to destroy Per Mertesacker’s ankle in the build-up to their goal. It would be typical of us to start dropping centre-backs just as the full-backs get back wouldn’t it? I guess this means Gibbs will start in the San Siro. Talking about the Milan match then, there’s a possibility that Nesta, Pato and Boateng could return for them in time for our match, not good news. Add to that Ibrahimovic being fit after his domestic ban and it will be a tough match. Anyone who has watched Italian football this year will tell you that Milan do well against the small teams but can come up short against the big ones, a myth they tried to dispel with a 2-1 win at Udinese. Regardless of which, it could be testing for us. Pace could be key against Abate and Mesbah who is most likely to start at left-back, while we can’t let their midfield run the show.

We come up against Sunderland in the cup next weekend, but I’ll probably do more on that later. In the meantime, read my weekly column for The6pointer as well as this piece by Arsenal Column on why Theo Walcott is so important.

Now I need to find someone who can write a match report for the Milan match, so please excuse me. Don’t forget to follow me on twitter @SavageGooner and ‘like’ us on facebook. Until the next time.
