Arsenal Take On QPR Tomorrow

by on December 30, 2011

Arsenal take Queens Park Rangers tomorrow at the Emirates in the Premiership. On Tuesday Wolves’s goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey denied the Gunners getting all three points on Tuesday after making a number of great saves, the match ended 1-1. QPR also drew their most recent match in the Premiership which was away to Swansea and it also ended 1-1. Arsenal find themselves in fifth place in the Premiership and QPR are currently in seventeenth place three points above the bottom three.

England international Theo Walcott is expected to return for the Gunners after missing the Wolves match through illness. Arsenal are still without André Santos, Carl Jenkinson, Bacary Sagna and Kieran Gibbs. French international Bacary Sagna and Kieran Gibbs are expected to return for Arsenal late next month. Also missing is midfielders Jack Wilshere and Abou Diaby.

Tomáš Rosický and Yossi Benayoun were handed starts against Wolves which meant Aaron Ramsey started on the bench for Arsenal. Johan Djoruou also returned from injury and came in at right-back. There has been some talk of Arsène Wenger resting Arsenal captain Robin Van Persie for tomorrows game, hopefully he doesn’t.

Queens Park Rangers are missing defender Anton Ferdinand through a hamstring injury and former England international Kieran Dyer who is ruled out for the whole season because of an ankle injury. Former Newcastle midfielder Joey Barton is expected to start for QPR tomorrow, he started for Newcastle against Arsenal earlier this season before he moved to QPR. Barton was involved in an incident which lead to Gervinho being sent off and Alex Song stamped on Barton later in the match as well.

Possible Arsenal team – Szczęsny, Vermaelen, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Djourou, Song, Arteta, Ramsey, Gervinho, Walcott, Van Persie (C).

Bench – Almunia, Miquel, Coquelin, Rosický, Benayoun, Arshavin, Chamakh.

Possible QPR team – Kenny, Young, Hill, Hall, Traore, Barton, Faurlin, Derry, Taarabt, Mackie, Helguson.

Arsenal’s key man – I’ve gone for Robin Van Persie, he’s been in excellent goal scoring form this season and is chasing Alan Shearer’s record. The likes of Gervinho and Walcott will need to provide the Dutchman with the right service tomorrow and I expect Aaron Ramsey to play behind him in that attacking midfield role.

Queens Park Rangers’s key man – I’ve chosen Alejandro Faurlín he’s impressed me this season, able to pick a pass out with good passing ability as well. The likes of him and Barton will be trying to pull the strings for QPR tomorrow. This will mean Alex Song will need to be disciplined to stop the midfield duo.

Prediction – I think Arsenal will win the match either 2-0 or 2-1, with Van Persie and Theo Walcott scoring for the Gunners. And if QPR score I think it will be from Helguson. But all I want is an Arsenal win and the three points.
