Arsenal Take On Wolves Tomorrow

by on December 26, 2011

Arsenal take on Wolves tomorrow in the Premiership at the Emirates, the match got postponed 24 hours because of the tube strikes in London today.  The Gunners defeated Aston Villa last week at Villa Park with goals from Robin Van Persie and Yossi Benayoun was enough to secure Arsenal all three points. Arsenal find themselves in fifth place in the Premiership and a win tomorrow they will go forth. Wolves are currently in seventeenth place, one point above the bottom three.

Belgium defender Thomas Vermaelen is likely to continue at left-back because of injuries to Kieran Gibbs and André Santos. French international Bacary Sagna is expected to return next month and Carl Jenkinson is still out through injury. Which means Francis Coquelin could start at right-back again tomorrow at the Emirates. But if Johan Djourou returns from injury then he could operate at right-back. French midfielder Abou Diaby is still missing for the Gunners and Jack Wilshere should be back available in February.

Wolves have got a couple of injury worries going in to tomorrow’s match with Jamie O’Hara  on the sidelines because of a groin injury. But David Edwards could return for the Premiership side. Wolves have only won one away game so far this season in the Premiership and losing six times on their travels.

Possible Arsenal team – Szczęsny, Vermaelen, Koscielny, Mertesacker, Djourou, Song, Arteta, Ramsey, Gervinho, Walcott, Van Persie (C).

Bench – Almunia, Miquel, Coquelin, Rosický, Benayoun, Arshavin, Chamakh.

Possible Wolves Team – Hennessey, Ward, Berra, Stearman, Zubar, Henry (C), Guedioura, Milijas, Hammill, Jarvis, Fletcher.

Bench – Vries, Craddock, Hunt, Edwards, Doyle, Johnson, Ebanks-Blake.

Arsenal’s key player – I’ve gone for Spanish midfielder Mikel Arteta this week, he’s really impressed me since he joined Arsenal on transfer deadline day. Being a very important figure in Arsenal’s team and adds lots of experience to the side as well. Think we will see Arteta being his consistent self tomorrow and can score goals from midfield as well.

Wolves key player – Arsenal are playing good football at the moments, Wolves have struggled on their travels this season in the Premiership. They are going to need their captain Karl Henry to break up Arsenal’s attacks tomorrow from midfield. I could have chosen Fletcher because he’s in great form but I’ve gone with Henry instead. If Wolves want to get something out of the game I think the midfielder will have to be in top form tomorrow.

Prediction – I can only see an Arsenal win tomorrow, I’m going with 2-0 to the Gunners with goals coming from Robin Van Persie and Alex Song.

I’m loving Arsenal right now and how we seem to be flowing and actually enjoying playing on the field, but I still think that we should try adopt a more of a 4-5-1 looking at how Ramsey is trying to be adapted into an Central attacking midfielder!!! So think about it

    Szczney
    Djourou – Kos – Per – Verm

    Song -Arteta
    Walcott. Gerv
    Ramsey
