Gibbs Suffers A Setback & Ryo and Fabianski return

by on December 20, 2011

Arsène Wenger has confirmed English defender Kieran Gibbs has suffered a setback in his recovery from his hernia operation. Gibbs returned to training last week with the first-team and there was a possibility he could of made a comeback against Aston Villa tomorrow.  The Arsenal fullback has been out since November for the Gunners, Arsenal defenders Gibbs, Jenkinson, Djourou, Sagna and Santos are all out injured.

Arsène Wenger on Gibbs’s setback.

“Kieran Gibbs has unfortunately had a setback and he is not back yet,”

“It’s very disappointing because we had good hope that he would be back for tomorrow’s game, but he is not available.”

Wenger also gave an update on Ryo and Fabianski.

“Ryo is joining in normal training on Friday, so he is completely back from injury,”

“Fabianski has practised today (Tuesday) and should be available for next week.”

Wenger is expected to make a decision early next month if Japanese forward Ryo will go out on loan in the January transfer window. So Fabianski won’t be avilable for the Aston Villa game which mean Almunia will be on the bench for Arsenal tomorrow.
