Vermaelen on Arsenal’s Form & Summer Signings

by on December 17, 2011

Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen recently was interviewed by ArsenalPlayer. He spoke about a number of things including Arsenal’s current form, having more experience in there side this season and summer signings Mikel Arteta and Per Mertesacker. Vermaelen recently signed a new contract with the Gunners in October, at the moment Vermaelen is filling in at left-back for Arsenal because of injuries to Kieran Gibbs and Andre Santos.

Vermaelen talked about Arsenal’s form this season.

“I think it [momentum] just happens,” “If you are winning games then you are in the mood, you are positive and your confidence just goes up. That’s what’s happened with this team”

“Maybe because we had a bad start some of the self-belief wasn’t there as much for some players but when we started winning again it came back.”

“That’s why we’re more confident on the pitch and we’ll get better results.!”

The Belgium defender also spoke about summer signings Mikel Arteta and Per Mertesacker.

“People like Mikel have played a lot of games in the Premier League and Per has played a lot in the Bundesliga and for his country.”

“Both are really experienced and I’m really happy with them.”

“That was good for the team I think, when they settled in well, and we’ve been getting better results.”

“It’s hard to say which moment or which result but I think the new players have been really important for us.”

“They’re doing a great job at the moment and they bring experience.”
