Wenger Didn’t Rule Out Signing Henry On Loan

by on December 16, 2011

Arsène Wenger was asked at his press conference on Friday whether he could sign former Arsenal striker Thierry Henry on loan in January. Wenger refused to rule out Henry returning to Arsenal, the former French international is currently training with Arsenal because it’s the MLS break. Henry left Arsenal in the summer of 2007 to join Barcelona and now plays for MLS side New York Red Bulls.

Wenger said this about Henry.

“At the moment, Thierry Henry just practices with us. I haven’t even investigated that.

“I cannot tell you even if there is a chance because I haven’t even made any approach, not to him nor his club.”

There no doubt Wenger is in the market for a striker in January because Gervinho and Chamakh both go to the African Cup of Nations in January until February and Van Persie can’t play every game. I can’t see Henry coming back to Arsenal on loan,  people are forgetting the MLS is a completely different league to the Premiership quality wise.

Wenger has got money available to spend in January and someone like Lukas Podolski would be ideal. The Arsenal manager dismissed reports he was going to make a bid for the German striker in January at his press conference on Friday.

Wenger said he wasn’t going to sign either of Andrey Arshavin or Mikel Arteta and he did.  Earlier in pre-season Wenger said he wasn’t going to buy another left-back and he signed Andre Santos. Wenger isn’t going to name his targets to the media for several reasons. Reportedly Arsenal had scouts watching Podolski play against Bayern Munich tonight.
