Arteta Targets The Champions League

by on December 16, 2011

Spanish midfielder Mikel Arteta recently spoke about Arsenal’s bad start to the season and how they’ve turned it around in the last couple of months. Arteta signed for Arsenal on the transfer deadline day in August. The Spaniard also talked about how the Arsenal fans deserve to see success and he’s targeted the Champions League.

“The club has gone through a lot in the last couple of months, the fans have been disappointed and need something to look forward to.

“We won’t forget about the Premier League but the Champions League can provide that extra something that gives everyone a lift.”

Arteta also went on to say how the new players who signed for Arsenal in August have all settled in well at the club. He mentioned Benayoun in particular and also spoke about  Mertesacker as well.

“The new players have fitted in really well. I’ve been pleasantly surprised, in a few months I’ve made some good friends. I’m getting on well with Yossi Benayoun, who I knew already, and Per Mertesacker is a great guy.”

Players like Arteta, Mertesacker, Benayoun and Sanots have brought experience to the Arsenal team. They are all important figures in the Arsenal dressing room as well. In recent weeks I’ve seen former Arsenal captain Tony Adams praise Mertesacker and Reserve player Oğuzhan Özyakup said Benayoun has so much time for all the younger players.
