Kieran Gibbs Aiming For Boxing Day Return

by on December 14, 2011

Arsenal left-back Kieran Gibbs is aiming to return for Arsenal for their match against Wolves on 26th December according to Express journalist Matt Law and The Sun. Gibbs last played for the North London side on October 16th, when they defeated Sunderland 2-1 at the Emirates. First it was muscle strain in his stomach which forced Gibbs to be substituted against Sunderland in the second-half. Then last month the English defender had hernia surgery which ruled him out for another five weeks.

Gibbs could feature for Arsenal Reserves next week when Neil Banfield’s side play against Chelsea at London Colney on Monday. With Brazilian left-back André Santos currently injured for the next three months it has meant Thomas Vermaelen has switched to left-back back in recent games for the gunners. Gibbs is return would be a massive boast for Arsenal who currently have got four fullbacks all out injured.
