Wenger Rules Out Move For Gourcuff & Not In Market For Midfielder

by on December 11, 2011

Lyon midfielder Yoann Gourcuff has been linked with a January move to Arsenal for the last couple of months on the internet, papers etc. The rumors first started in August when Arsène Wenger was reportedly interested in taking Gourcuff on loan after summer departures of former Arsenal midfielders Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri.

On Canal Plus Arsène Wenger recently spoke about Gourcuff

“I like him (Gourcuff) a lot, the media are too tough on him. But I’m not in the market for a midfielder in January”

“We have a lot of players in midfield, with Diaby and Wilshere to come back”

So it looks like the French midfielder will not be coming to the Emirates in January. In the past Wenger has ruled out signing the likes of Arshavin, Arteta and Santos but he did sign them all eventually. Arsène Wenger would never come out and tell the press what player he is targeting to buy.
