Benik Afobe Expected To Return In 4/5 Weeks

Arsenal Reserve striker Benik Afobe tweeted today saying he can start running tomorrow in training and should be playing in four to five weeks time. Afobe featured for Arsenal in the Emirates Cup against MLS side New York Bulls in pre-season. Last season Afobe went on loan to League One side Huddersfield Town where he impressed scoring eight goals and getting ten assists in all competitions.

Afobe got injured for Arsenal Reserves in their first league match of the season against Manchester United earlier this season. If the young Arsenal striker does return in four to five weeks then he could make his comeback for Neil Banfield’s side against Aston Villa on the 9th January or against Fulham on the 24th January.

Afobe signed a new contract in June with the North London side, with Chamakh going to the African Cup of Nations in January Afobe could be used in the first-team for back up to Van Persie. There were some rumors linking Afobe to Championship side Millwall on loan earlier this season.
