Arsenal Reserves Take On Aston Villa Tonight

by on November 30, 2011

Arsenal Reserves take on Aston Villa tonight this fixtures last season saw Neil Banfield’s side suffer a heavy defeat to Villa losing 10-1. They are unbeaten in their last three Reserve games and are currently second in the Reserve League South one point behind league leaders West Brom. Aston Villa find themselves in good form, they will be aiming to continue their five-game unbeaten run.

Reserve team captain Ignasi Miquel started for the first-team yesterday against Manchester City in the Carling Cup so won’t feature. Nico Yennaris, Craig Eastmond, Vito Mannone and Oğuzhan Özyakup were all unused substitutes for the first-team last night and are expected  to start for Neil Banfield’s side this evening. Ireland U-21’s forward Rhys Murphy has returned to training after recently missing the last few Reserve games through injury. Daniel Boateng’s suspension could come in which will mean the Reserves will be missing their stand in captain.

With the likes of Chuks Aneke, Sanchez Watt and Luke Freeman all going out on loan in recent weeks to continue their football education. Which means it will give opportunities to players from Steve Bould’s U-18’s side. Zak Ansah and Josh Rees both featured for the Reserves in their last match against West Brom.

Possible Arsenal Reserve team – Mannone, Bihmoutine, Angha, Hajrovic, Yennaris, Eastmond, Ebecillio, Özyakup, Meade, Rees, Ansah

(If Boateng suspension comes in, if it doesn’t then I expect him to start)
