Arsenal Take On Fulham At The Emirates

by on November 25, 2011

Arsenal sealed qualification to the Champions League knockout phase by defeating Borussia Dortmund at the Emirates on Wednesday evening. Now Arsène Wenger’s side turn their attention towards Saturday they are playing Fulham in the Premiership at the Emirates. Winning elven out their of their last thirteen games in all competitions and wining their last five Premiership games.

Their are no fresh injury concerns for Arsenal with Arsène Wenger confirming today it will be the same squad which was named for the Dortmund game. But Wenger didn’t say if their will be any changes to the starting line up or not. I could either see Yossi Benayoun or Andrey Arshavin replacing Gervinho in the starting elven. French international Laurent Koscielny was substituted late on against Dortmund and Johan Djourou replaced him at right-back. Wenger said Koscielny went off due to fatigue, maybe Djourou will replace the French defender against Fulham at right-back.

Kieran Gibbs is still four weeks away from returning to training and Carl Jenkinson is at least three weeks away. With long-term injuries Bacary Sagna and Jack Wilshere still absent and set to return in January. Tomas Rosicky could return after a thigh injury and would likely be named on the bench if the midfielder returned. Fulham duo Steve Sidwell and Stephen Kelly are both injury doubts for the match. Also Fulham have doubts about Damien Duff and Simon Davies.

The North London side have never lost at home to Fulham in any competition, Fulham are currently 16th in the Premiership. With Robin Van Persie continuing his great scoring form by scoring a brace against Dortmund on Wednesday evening.

Possible line up Arsenal – Szczesny, Santos, Vermaelen, Mertersacker, Koscielny, Song, Arteta, Ramsey, Benayoun, Walcott, Van Persie (C)

Bench – Fabianski, Djourou, Frimpong, Diaby, Gervinho, Arshavin, Chamakh/Park

Possible Fulham line up – Schwarzer, Riise, Senderos, Hangeland, Hughes, Duff, Murphy(C), Etuhu, Dempsey, Zamora, Dembélé

Arsenal’s Key Player – None over than Robin Van Persie, the Dutch striker has been instrumental to Arsenal’s good form recently. He can’t stop scoring at the moment and is unplayable at times. The Arsenal captain scored a brace on Wednesday night against Dortmund. I expect him to keep his scoring run going if given the right service tomorrow.

Fulham’s Key Player – American international Clint Dempsey a player who can score goals from midfield for Fulham, already scoring five goals for them this season in all competitions. Arsenal’s defence and Alex Song will try and keep Dempsey very quiet tomorrow at the Emirates.

My prediction is another victory for the gunners with Van Persie scoring again. I think the scoreline will be 3-1 to Arsenal with Van Persie scoring again. Ramsey and Walcott scoring the other goals for Arsenal. Fulham don’t have a good record away to Arsenal and the gunners are now in very good form you would expect another Arsenal win.
