Aneke Goes On Loan To Stevenage & Yennaris Extends His Contract

by on November 22, 2011

Nico Yennaris has extended his contract with Arsenal, after making his debut in the victory over Bolton in the Carling Cup fourth round earlier this season. Yennaris played as a right-back for the gunners in the Carling Cup but he is versatile and his preferred position is in midfield. Being a starter for Neil Banfield’s side this season has saw Yennaris become a regular in the England U-19’s team. Yennaris could be part of the squad for the Carling Cup quarter final match against Manchester City at The Emirates next week.

Highly rated teenager Chuks Aneke has signed for League One side Stevenage on loan until January 22nd 2012. The young Arsenal midfielder made his debut for the Arsenal first-team in third round of the Carling Cup after coming on as a second-half substitute against Shrewsbury Town earlier this season.  Aneke played against Stevenage in pre-season, where he scored the only goal of the game for an Arsenal XI side.

Aneke will join up with his team-mate Luke Freeman who recently joined Stevenage on loan last week and made his debut on Saturday against Leyton Orient. The loan move will hopefully give Aneke first-team football experience over the next couple of months. He recently signed a new contract with the gunners in June of this year.

Reserve team coach Neil Banfield hinted today on the Arsenal website that their could be a few more players from the reserve side going out on loan. The likes of Sanchez Watt, Craig Eastmond and Ignasi Miquel being the likely candidates.
