Freeman Goes On Loan To Stevenage & Boateng Extends His Contract

by on November 17, 2011

Luke Freeman has joined League One side Stevenage on loan until January 8th, their is an option for Stevenage to extend the loan deal if they wish to. Freeman played against Stevenage in pre-season for an Arsenal XI side where Chuks Aneke scored the only goal of game. The young Arsenal forward used to play mainly as a striker, but has adapted playing on either wing in the current 4-2-3-1 formation the Reserves play. Now playing more of his football as a winger, it will be interesting to see where Freeman is used at  Broadhall Way either as a striker or winger.

Freeman went out on loan last season to Yeovil Town scoring on his debut but injuries limited his playing time their. When he did return to full fitness he found himself on the bench the majority of his time , only scoring one more time for them. So he returned to Arsenal later last year and went to the Dallas Cup where he was the stand out player for Arsenal throughout the tournament. Signing a new contract with the North London side in March, Freeman will now be looking to take the most of his loan move and getting the vital loan experience.

With Freeman going out on loan this could mean there will be more playing time for Zak Ansah who is currently on the fringes of the Reserve side whilst playing for U-18’s still. Players like Josh Rees and Jeffrey Monakana from Steve Bould’s side will be looking to work their way in to the Reserve team.

Daniel Boateng has extended his contract with Arsenal today, recently Boateng has been the stand in captain for Neil Banfield’s side due to Ignasi Miquel absent in the last couple of games for the Reserves. Boateng is being more consistent and making less errors it seems this season, making his first-team debut in the Carling Cup fourth round against Bolton coming on as a second-half sub for Thomas Vermaelen. Boateng did recently get sent off for Arsenal Reserves in their last match against Norwich Reserves after getting two yellow cards.
