Arsenal Vs West Brom Preview

by on November 4, 2011

After a frustrating result in the Champions League this week, Arsenal play West Brom tomorrow in the Premiership at the Emirates. The gunners will be looking to get back to winning ways after there draw against Marseille. Recently the North London side have been in good form winning eight out of their last ten games. And that incredible victory last week against Chelsea.

Three straight Premiership wins now they will wanting to make it four tomorrow. Arsenal only managed to take a point off West Brom last season after losing against them 3-2 at the Emirates and drawing 2-2 away to them. Arsenal captain Robin Van Persie said today “we have to put something right from last year, and we also have to keep our run going”. The Dutchman was referring to Arsenal’s defeat to West Brom last season saying they have to beat them this time around.

Van Persie will certainly be back in the Arsenal starting line up tomorrow after beginning on the bench in midweek. French center back Laurent Koscielny is likely to return as well after being rested Vs Marseille. Kieran Gibbs, Marouane Chamakh, Abou Diaby, Bacary Sagna and Jack Wilshere all remain sidelined.

Questions marks about Arsenal’s defence tomorrow who will play at the heart of the defence. With Belgium international Thomas Vermaelen and Per Mertsacker playing as center backs for Arsenal in midweek. But Koscielny is in the form of his life at the moment and likely to return to the starting line up. Does it mean Koscielny will be moved to right-back? Carl Jenkinson could continue to play full back for the gunners or Johan Djourou could come in to play in an unfamiliar position.

West Brom will be missing key striker Shane Long through injury and their top goal scorer from last season is a doubt Peter Odemwingie after hurting his knee in training this week. Paul Scharner suffered knee ligament damage against Liverpool last weekend and is ruled out.

Arsenal possible team – Szczesny, Andre Santos, Vermaelen, Mertersacker, Koscielny, Song, Arteta, Ramsey, Walcott, Arshavin, Van Persie (C)

West Brom possible team – Foster, Jones, Olsson, McAuley, Reid, Thomas, Mulumbu, Dorrans, Brunt (C), Gera, Tchoyi

Arsenal’s key player – Van Persie is in great form at the moment, the Dutch striker can’t stop scoring and if he’s provided the right service tomorrow I fully expect him to score again.

West Brom’s key player – Their captain Chris Brunt he will either play on the wing or centrally for them tomorrow.  Great technical ability, able to score goals and can pick passes out. Alex Song will have to keep mark him throughout the game tomorrow.

My prediction is an Arsenal win they are playing with a lot of confident at the moment and in midweek Arsenal’s defence were solid. Hopefully they will continue it tomorrow and we saw what Arsenal can do going forward against Chelsea last Saturday.
