Arshavin’s Honestly, Gervinho Speaks About Hazard & More

by on November 3, 2011

After Arsenal’s frustrating draw against French side Marseille on Tuesday night, they now prepare for their Premiership match against West Brom on Saturday. Looking ahead past the West Brom game, their is an international break for two weeks.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has been called up to the England U-21’s squad. Laurent Koscielny has been named in Laurent Blanc’s France squad for there up incoming fixtures. After recently making his debut Arsenal debut Nico Yennaris has been called up for the latest England U19’s squad.

Russia captain Andrey Arshavin recently said “Speaking honestly, I think my performances for Arsenal have been average,”. We all know what Arshavin can do, one minute he can do something magical and then the next minute lose the ball. He’s very honest in saying he’s only been average  since joining the gunners. Finally playing in his preferred position against Bolton in the Carling Cup a couple of weeks ago, the midfielder will be looking for more opportunities to play there.

Arshavin recently spoke about playing centrally “[Against Bolton] Even if I was in a central position I was still playing quite deep in reality. ‘Ideally, I’d like to play closer to a forward”. My opinion is because of the current 4-2-3-1 formation it makes the player playing in the advanced attacking role play deeper. Than if Arsenal set up in a 4-4-1-1 formation the player in the more advanced attacking role would be higher up the pitch.

We’ve seen in recent matches Aaron Ramsey supporting Van Persie from midfield. But I hope we get a chance to see Arshavin playing behind Van Persie some when this season.

Arsenal forward Gervinho has spoken about the possible chance of former Lille team-mate joining him at the Emirates next season. “Hazard is a young player with enormous quality. He has everything it takes to triumph in England.” We all know Arsène Wenger is a big admirer of Hazard and one of his main targets.

Reportedly Wenger did ask Lille about Hazard in the summer but we don’t know if it’s true or not. But we do know Hazard will be leaving Lille in the summer which means a host of clubs all across Europe will want to sign the Belgium international. With Arsenal, Real Madrid, PSG, Inter Milan all have been linked with the midfielder.

Szczesny recently said “We feel like we have what it takes to win every game and I am sure we can keep it going”. At the moment Arsenal have won eight out of their last ten games.
