Spuds 2-1 Us

Highlights (I wouldn’t)

Post-match interviews:

BBC: AW | Redknapp

Arsenal: Francis Coquelin | Arsene Wenger

Post-match press conference

Right, if you missed it yesterday then I did one of those player ratings, statistic kind of pieces so have a look at that if you want to. Looking around, a few decent reactions around. GOODPLAYA has been talking about our defending and has said that we have to improve defensively as a team before we are to improve. Gunnerblog wonders how much longer we’ll have the handbrake on for and Arsenal Report have done one of their tactical analysis kind of things. There’s pretty pictures as well.

Injuries

The injury front is pretty worrying at the moment, with Wojciech Szczesny withdrawing from the Poland squad as a precaution (hopefully) and obviously Bacary Sagna’s broken fibula. Thankfully, his surgery was succesful. The bad news though, the initial three months out appears to be accurate. Thomas Vermaelen is nearer to a return as well, as he tweeted yesterday that he was returning to light training.

“Great step forward today. First run outside without any pain or discomfort. Hopefully i can make good progress this week.”

The sooner we get the Verminator back, the better. In al honesty, I actually don’t know where our other centre-backs have gone. Or when/how they got injured. I’m just waiting to take stock of who we still have next week.

Youth

A loanees round-up then, Joel Campbell and Nicklas Bendtner shone this week. Bendtner scored and assisted to bring Sunderland back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2. Joel Campbell scored on his first start for Lorient and gained quite a bit of praise from the manager.

The Reserves drew 2-2 with Swansea with Sanchez Watt and Chuks Aneke particularly impressing. Ryo also got a run-out and got another assist. Unfortunately, the U-18s couldn’t match that result, losing 4-3 at home to Fulham.

That’s basically it, probably have less regular posts seeing as we’re in an interlull at the moment, although I’ll be doing some work behind the scenes and Sam will be with us to talk about the last month. As always, I’m tweetable @SavageGooner and you can ‘like’ us on facebook as well.
