Oxlade-Chamberlain in hot water? Jagielka outpricing Cahill?

by on July 22, 2011

As has been reported in numerous media outlets in recent days, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has been talking about his desire to join the ‘Premier League bus’ and the rumours linking him with a move to Arsenal have been stoked. Last night on twitter there were reports that a deal had been agreed but these were of unknown veracity. As has been the case for a while, Southampton boss Nigel Adkins has urged the youngster to stay. However, the Mail reckons the youngster has been fined two weeks wages for his ‘outspoken comments’. Seems a bit harsh if true. The Mail also reckons we’re set to improve our bid. That fits with what I’ve heard, although I only heard ‘negotiations ongoing’. I suppose it depends on just how flexible Southampton are on the subject of add-ons and other little things in the transfer.

Following on from the news of our rejected bid for Everton’s Phil Jagielka, rumours abound that Everton are looking for something in the region of £20m and I had a metro article for this, but it’s absconded. Damn this modern technology. I suppose if he’s that expensive, then Cahill could come back into the picture, although Jagielka has more experience and is apparently the preferred target.

For those who didn’t hear earlier this week, no number 4 shirt was printed for Cesc to wear against Cologne as he looks unlikely to feature. This is not, as the Mail would have you believe, because he is pushing for a move away, but rather that he is still working on his fitness and the club don’t want to take any risks. On the Fabregas saga, a bunch of officials were in North London over the last few days to discuss a deal for Cesc Fabregas. From what I’ve heard, no offer was forthcoming and they were told that a minimum of £40m should be forthcoming with no add-ons, bonuses, extra fees, etc. to complicate the deal. Just £40m straight up. Pleasing news if true, as Arseblogger would say ‘Cough up or cock off’.
So anyway, I’ve found two videos. Both are interviews with players r.e. going on tour in Asia as opposed to Austria. One is with Johan Djourou and the other with Emmanuel Frimpong. You’d think I would know which is which but I don’t and can’t really be bothered to remember. If it’s your thing then enjoy. Video 1 Video 2

On a lighter note, I found this amusing. I’m sure you all will as well. ;) That’s all for today I’m afraid. Enjoy your weekend. Nick and I will both be back on Monday. Until then. @SavageGooner
