Ages without football!!!

by on July 15, 2011

It’s been what, two days? Seems like ages. I know we’re playing tomorrow, but I’m not sure if I’ll be watching or not, I could be up to alcohol fuelled-mischief. Regardless of that, I’m sure either myself or Nick will be able to let you know what went on at the beginning of next week. More fallout from our match in Malaysia and an article from the truly brilliant Arsenal Report. Someone remind me to add them to the blogroll after this post. As tactical analysis goes, it doesn’t get much better and I found the triple pivot vs. double pivot in midfield particularly interesting but maybe that’s just the purist football-geek in me springing to life.

It’s a sad day though, as Patrick Vieira has retired from playing football. Even sadder, he’s coaching at City. I don’t actually care that much but it would have been a bit nicer if he had comeback to North London. I suppose it’s all about the £££ these days ( or ££££££££££££££££££££££££££££ in the case of City). Some good news though, the Premier League is doing something useful. I know, life is full of little surprises though.

The usual pre-season gibberish is going around, I haven’t been linking to anything purely because I haven’t been reading most of the stuff on the official site. Not that I don’t listen to the players or anything, but there’s so much stuff and most of it isn’t that interesting. More interesting though, here’s Arsene Wenger wearing glasses. Maybe all those times he ‘couldn’t see it from the dug-out’ he was being serious. Looking through the gossip rags, the only thing of interest is the Mirror saying that the barcodes are looking to move Enrique on ASAP. Given that we’re no longer in for a left-back, it’s a bit unlikely though. Still, you never know.

I’m looking for something else to fill space. Nothing. At all. Except we’re interested in a 19-year old forward from Costa Rica and a video of Carl Jenkinson’s debut vs. Malaysia.

So we’ve had a poll up over the last few weeks about the futures of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri and it’s now closed so the results are in! Over 34% of voters were complete optimists who reckon that both players will be playing for us next season. At the moment, they could well be right. 13% of people said that neither player would feature for the club,  9% said that Samir would go while Cesc would stay and 17% said that the opposite would happen. The final option, a  massive 26% of people said that they didn’t care as long as they had a team to support. That was fun wasn’t it.

In other news, we’re looking at the possibility of setting up a facebook page for the blog, please please please be sure to vote in the poll on the right as to your opinion on it. Many thanks. ;) (It should be up soon)

That’s it for today, sorry for the frankness of the blog, but there’s not much news at the moment to be brutally frank with you. Yours, Frank @SavageGooner
